Operation Gairatpur Baas 2008

Saturday 9th August 2008

A more relaxing start to the day - no early morning digging. Adam sat up in bed writing his diary and breakfast for Adam, Ben, Charles, Annie and Martin at 08:15 as we were all up and ready. Kati and Simon appeared for their breakfast a little later at 9:00.

At 10:00 we went to the centre of Gairatput Baas village with Rajbir as our interpreter and met the village "headman" (or lady in this case). Martin explained (via Rajbir) why we were here and she asked about the project and then offered us Chai (sweet tea). The eldest son of the head-lady was smoking a hookah (large pipe with water filter) and kept offering it to Simon!
